Your Hands

I saw them the other day.
How long has it been?
Up close, they looked foreign to me.
How could these be the same hands?
The same hands that fed me
when I could not.
The same hands that hugged me
when I cried.
The same hands that smacked me
when I got out of line.
How long has it been?
And how long will it be
until I see your hands again?
